Since May 2020, Laurel Douglas has been CEO of ETSI-BC, which administers a $50 million endowment to support economic development in the Southern Interior region of BC. From 2004-2020, she was CEO of Women’s Enterprise Centre, an award-winning non-profit business support organization that provides business loans, advisory services, training, mentoring and export support to women entrepreneurs throughout BC.

Paul Wiest was born and raised in the Kootenays. For the past 30 years, Paul has worked in the field of business and economic development with organization such as Community Futures, GO Productivity, the BC Chamber, the Nelson & Area Economic Development Partnership and Community Futures BC. Prior to that, he worked in the banking industry. Paul delivers board training, facilitates strategic planning and project feasibility assessments, and carries out stakeholder consultations. Clients range from large international corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, non-profit agencies and government.
Since June of 2020, Paul has been working with ETSI-BC, first on their Stakeholder Consultations, then facilitating the Board strategic planning session. Paul is now a Business & Economic Development Consultant for ETSI-BC, serving the Columbia, Kootenay and Boundary regions plus the part of the Fraser Valley RD that is in the ETSI-BC territory.

Renata King is a business and economic development specialist with over 25 years of experience. Most recently she spent 8 years in Prince George, creating and managing business programs as Director, Business Development for Northern Development (NDIT). For more than 10 years, she delivered consulting support to hundreds of businesses across BC and Western Canada for BDC. Prior to that, Renata led the economic development function for the North Okanagan region.
Since returning to Vernon, Renata has joined the team at ETSI-BC as a Business and Economic Development consultant, serving the Columbia-Shuswap, Thompson-Nicola, Okanagan, and Similkameen. In this role, she connects with economic development and business support organizations, responds to funding inquiries, and supports applicants to the new funding programs that ETSI-BC is offering.

Aleece Laird is a communications and stakeholder engagement specialist who lives and works in Kamloops. She graduated from Thompson Rivers University with her Bachelor of Business Administration and has enjoyed a career in communications, from working in the broadcast industry and co-founding an advertising agency, to starting her new venture, Amplify Consulting Inc. in 2016. As a communications specialist leading purposeful stakeholder engagement and community consultation, she understands the importance of having diverse voices at the table to help leaders make better strategic decisions.
Aleece started working with the ETSI-BC team in July 2020. She is a Community Engagement Consultant liaising with ETSI-BC stakeholders in the Thompson Nicola region to help them access funding to amplify their economic growth and recovery.
